Our Campaigns

Snap the Taboo

In India even today 49.6% women continue to use cloth for their menstrual cycle. 32.4% girls drop out of school as soon as their menstrual cycle begins. 42.3% men are absolutely clueless about how menstruation works and how they help out their wife, daughter or sister in this situation.

Our campaign, “Snap the Taboo” aims at de-mything some of the common notions around menstruation and ensuring that it is no longer a hush hush topic. We organise campaigns and workshops to sensitize people about usage and disposal of sanitary pads, food they can have, exercises they can do and to ensure that menstruation is not seen as a taboo but as what it is — a necessary monthly cycle which no one woman should feel ashamed of when talking about it. We’ve held sanitary napkin distribution drives in various slums while focusing on the importance of personal hygiene.

In order to understand how one can handle the menstrual cycle it is also important to educate people on how and why menstruation takes place in the first place. We organise educational workshops and campaigns wherein with the help of presentations and visual graphics we educate women and even men about mensels so they can be empathetic towards the women in their lives who are going through their monthly cycle and how to help them.

Next Innings

Life often gives us a second chance but the same can not be said about the released prison inmates due to post-release difficulties like stigma, rejection, distrust, mistrust, and discrimination they face. Ex-convicts require ample tenacity and support to cross these hurdles and live a life of dignity and self respect. Our campaign “Next Innings” aims at providing ex-convicts with opportunities for skill development and employment opportunities so that they face the Next Innings of their lives with a sense of freedom.

Perhaps the hardest part of a woman’s life is moving out of the house which should have been her home. Rampant normalisation of domestic violence makes it hard for emotionally distressed women to leave their in-laws and oftentimes even their families are of no help due to the stigma around divorce or leaving marriages in India, all these factors come together as fear of abandonment along with economic difficulties. Our campaign also helps women move out of abusive marriages and support themselves via providing them with employment opportunites.

We provide them with vocational training in areas like basket weaving, furniture making, handicrafts, etc. while also providing them with job opportunities in these fields so that they can sustain themselves.

Need of the Hour

In “Need of the Hour” we realise that destiny has a strange way of throwing a curveball in our lives or simply creating a ripple in our normal daily routines. This campaign aims to provide relief to people hit by drought, earthquake, fire outbreaks, etc. with the end goal being to provide quick and efficient help which is the crucial ‘need of the hour’ for disaster-stricken people who have faced the calamities like fire outbreaks, earthquake, floods, drought, etc.

Certain social evils have been deep-seated in the society’s consciousness, as if they have become an everyday part of our lives. We also try re-educating people on such issues like good touch bad touch and the problems of a non flexible radical thought that leads you to believe that everything is either white or black when in-fact life is often lived in those areas of gray pockets.

Chalo Padhein

Perhaps the only gift that increases in quantity when we give it out is the gift of education which is to be cherished, preserved and spread to all. Rudimentary literacy can be the most basic foundation that can help an individual live a life of dignity and independence—independent in action, independent in work and independent in decision making while carrying out their daily chores.

We believe that learning has no age bar and so our volunteers help an array of people from all age categories learn basic literary and mathematical skills that would help them go about their work easily and more efficiently. The more driven and motivated people who want to continue their studies further and gain not just literacy but knowledge, are encouraged and taught by our NGO.

We have announced 100% literacy amongst the inmates in District Jail Fatehpur under our Chalo Padhein initiative.

Rakshak ki Raksha

We are often so busy thinking about ourselves that we forget that even the mightiest of saviours need saving. Often times, the police officers who ensure that we sleep peacefully in a crime free locality hardly get time to return home most days, the doctors and nurses who make sure that we live a healthy and happy life often lose their own physical and mental well being by overworking themselves.

Under our campaign, “Rakshak ki Raksha” we recognise the hard work and dedication with which our frontline warriors serve our nation and hold health check up campaigns and mental health programmes to help them overcome the excessive work stress.

Healing the Earth

We understand the need for always having a plan for environmental conservation up our sleeve because there is no planet B so saving mother Earth is one of the primary concerns on our checklist. For any plan to be executed well, the aim and agendas need to be grilled first and in order to do so we hold tree plantation drives and workshops in schools to ensure that our youth leaves a healthy and habitable planet for the coming generations. We’ve also sensitised the inmates in District Jail, Fatehpur about the need of this crucial task by holding essay writing and poster making competitions on environment days since the past few years.

Our campaign also aims at growing kitchen gardens, wherein, we plant fruits and vegetables which are distributed amongst the underprivileged citizens in rural and urban areas. We also hold trash picking and cleaning drives to sensitise people about the importance of a clean and green environment and hence hold plogging activities often.

A child is forever indebted to their mother because of the selfless care and nurturing that they’ve received. Now it is time that we give back the same respect and love to our nurturing planet, Mother Earth.

Coping with stress

In this global capitalist world, where only running at a speed faster than everyone else can imagine guarantees success we often fail to stop and admire that life is in fact lived in the small pockets of everyday mundane things and instead we focus only at the larger goal in front, exhausting us to the point that stress and burnout become lifestyle diseases. Since stress stretches out like an umbrella on almost all aspects of our lives, this campaign “Coping with Stress” we lead miscellaneous projects to combat one of the most common yet least focused issues of our lives—mental well being.

In project Rebuilding Family Communication we work closely with the parents and children to help rebuild a warm family environment where children don’t have to think twice before talking about their lives with their parents and where parents provide an equal and much needed affection towards their children and not sideline them due to work responsibilities.

In Say No To Drugs our volunteers go about holding informative workshops in schools and colleges about the evils and health issues caused by substance abuse to sensitize our youth.

Rebuilding lives focuses on combating daily life addictions like junk food, excessive screen time, always watching television, etc. and chart out a healthy lifestyle by consulting professionals.

Throughout our campaign we work closesly with psychiatric and counselling professionals who help people overcome their problems and chart out a way to lead a life with sound and safe mental well being. We sensitize people that mental health is just as crucial as one’s physical health for one’s body can only work as long as their mind is happy and healthy.

Aawaaz-e-Bezubaan

Aawaaz-e-Bezubaan is a campaign by Aayom Welfare Society that brings awareness about animal welfare and protection. Our vision is for animals to be treated with respect, compassion, and love. We know that animals and birds also have feelings, just like humans. They deserve to be protected, have shelter, and be fed right.

We believe every animal has a place in our hearts, and we want them all
to feel safe in their homes! We want their lives to be as good as ours–and we want them to live long lives filled with happiness. We want to promote this message through our campaign Aawaaz-e-Bezubaan which means ‘Voice of Bezubaan’.
